Someone asked me long back who is your Ideal? Your inspiration... I always pondered and gave fitting answers. Since then this question like my shadow keeps following me with age and time. It refuses to leave me. My answer always changed with time.... when I was young, it was to be like my mom or my favorite teacher. Then it was to be like mother Theresa or Abraham Lincoln or Mahatma Gandhi or Margaret Thatcher or Indira Gandhi or so on and so forth!!..... To be like someone I’ve never met or seen or spoke to. Someone I read about!
Sometimes in life we never think about little things, some things are always there but we never question its existence. It sticks on. Stays with us-forever.
One fine day I sat and thought deeply- “who really inspired me??!!”I was perplexed and shocked with the answer I discovered. At times when you seldom tend to meet yourself and have conversation with your inner self, you come with unexpected answers.Yes! The people who inspired me were ordinary people with extraordinary grit and determination.
That particular old woman I see begging in scorching sun and damn cold winters with torn cloths with gangrene on her left feet who still lives on with minimum food and no shelter. Her will to live puts me to shame.
Likewise, recently this particular young girl who showed such guts and courage deserves everyone’s applause.Meet Rukhsana. The Lady of Courage.Rukhsana, who gave up her studies two years ago after failing class tenth, was in her house in Shadhara village in Thana Mandi area of the district, about 190 km north-east of Jammu, when three militants barged in late Sunday night. The militants demanded Rukhsana be handed over to them, which her father Noor Hussain, mother Rashida and brother Ejaz tried to resist. At this, the militants started hitting the family members with rifle butts. This angered Rukhsana and she picked up an axe and hit one of the militants, killing him. He was later identified as Abu Osama of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).A violent scuffle ensued, in which another militant was injured and he and the third soon fled.Police officials have commended Rukhsana’s courage, while state Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has sent a special message for Rukhsana and said she would soon be rewarded.

I was so overwhelmed to read this. This show Indian woman would not take any nonsense. Her docile demure should not be confused for submissive attitude. I believe Indian woman have such courage, be it Janshi ki Rani, Lakshmi bai,Chennama, Razia Sultan,Kasturbha bai, Sharadha Devi and all those countless woman who keep the family cycle going in spite of their drunken husbands or a woman we meet everyday who saves every penny or a woman who keep her family together even without their man’s love. It’s as close as ‘my mother’ and ‘your mother’ who is ready to feed us as long as she can (even though we are old enough to be thrown out of the house to make a living of our own)
Let’s applaud and encourage all such women who deserve much more than they have got so far.Our everyday woman who looks simple and plain but has mammoth strength and determination and courage when situation demands.
Let’s salute Women of our Country.
she is bold and deserves the attention of the whole country on context of fight against terrorism.Basic arms and ammunition training for everyone is a need of the hour for atleast those who live in potentially risky teritorries of our country like J&K
ReplyDeleteMOREOVER one thing I would like to mention here is
I see many girls who subscribes to
Times of India and
when they get one ironically takes the Bangalore Times out and keeps the other section
aside. How pathetic it is to see that happiness and curiosity in their eyes when they go through all the junks and bollywood gossips.I am glad to come across a girl who reads the real news and have an opinion about daily happenings around us.
My salutes to Rukhsana and Jael..thanks.
Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are...I think anybody week in this situation of life & death where u hv terrorist with guns shall fight to the end the girl had the best oppurtunity as his brothers & father had made them busy by raising their hands to fight them..i shall praise the brother & father in this fight not the girl at all...
ReplyDeleteThere is no question of women or men i salute each one who is fighting for someother persons cause not fighting to save himself / his kingdom / fame / money or whatever it is just self defence..
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not....every indivijual is as unique as possible & should be allowed to be what he has to...followers or looking for ideals is getting lost..an insult to oneself...
Dear Jael,
ReplyDeleteAs I was going through this blog, I really felt many of us would happen to hear this question " who is your IDEAL". Many would say My mom, my dad, mother theresa, etc. Many would also say I myself. that is really a positive attitude. But when we happen to see these ladies or the lady of a border man, we cannot even imagine to stand next to them. They smile with all their difficulties a sweet. Very heart touching content and expression. and this would also help all of us to become an indian lady:)
I don't see anything interesting in the blog except the fact that the kashmiri woman defended bravely.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the case, for, who have seen much more complexities and the day to day challenges faced by indian woman.
I think this blog could have improved with more focus on collective problem of indian women and how brave they are ..
Anyway good effort... keep blogging
hey jael! did go thru the blog and also the comments!
ReplyDeletenothing personal - "to the men" - nothing against either...
but it still goes that it is a women .. who knows what it is to be so and brave out..
and i appreciate u, to bring this up... as is rightly said, a women for another...
its quiet surprising, that one of the comments appreciated the men of the family... but, they fail to understand, we still are in a society, where men r supposed to protect, when this still persists in an urban environ, between us, who r educated, sophisticated, one THOUGHT ABT the GRIT of that little girl in a place, where it mainly wud be like "man is everything"... requires an applause indeed..
just for the men...most of u give the assurance..to ur girl/wife... from d day... u r my responsibility...y u even say u wud take care of her....MAN! isnt this the society we live in??
